Synopsis
A reckless bet. A guarded rancher. A connection neither expected.
Comfortable in her overalls and glasses, Isabelle Clark has always kept her world small and safe, devoted to her family’s ranch and wary of romance. When betrayal threatens everything she loves, she finds unexpected comfort in a rugged cowboy whose steady presence awakens feelings she never allowed herself to explore.
Levi Easton thrives on charm, confidence, and his reputation as the town’s most irresistible cowboy. Certain he can win over any woman, he makes a wager with friends to persuade the reserved Isabelle to attend the town’s dance festival with him.
What begins as a challenge soon becomes something far more complicated as Levi discovers Isabelle’s strength, loyalty, and quiet vulnerability. The closer he gets, the harder it becomes to tell where the bet ends and real feelings begin.

Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One Look Inside
Isabelle Clark woke up to her phone vibrating against her bedside table. Her eyes still closed, she felt for her cell phone. When she found it, she squinted through the morning light filtering through her curtains at the caller ID.
“Hey, Emily,” Isabelle said with a yawn.
“Did I wake you?”
“No. Well, yes, but I needed to get up anyway.” As if to prove the point to herself, Isabelle tossed the covers off her and sat up. “How’s Montana?”
“It’s beautiful here, but I can’t wait ‘til I get back home.”
“Aww, you miss me that much?” Isabelle chuckled as she got out of the bed. “Or maybe it’s Mr. Secret Admirer’s affection you’re missing?”
“Oh, you, definitely,” Emily said. “But have you happened to see…”
“Sorry, no.” Isabelle opened her closet to pull out a pair of overalls and a white t-shirt. “I’ve gone over every day with the guise of seeing if he sent you anymore flowers or gifts, but nothing.”
“Man! It’s driving me crazy.”
Isabelle laughed. She enjoyed seeing her best friend so flustered by something as simple as someone unknown showing their affection for her. She thought it was sweet. She couldn’t help but wonder herself who Emily’s admirer was.
A muted voice on the other end of the line must have taken Emily’s attention when she returned back to Isabelle, she said, “I’ve got to get going. I’ll see you in a couple of days.”
“Okay. Love you,” Isabelle said.
“You too.”
After the phone call ended, Isabelle got herself ready to work in the field. But before that, she needed to start breakfast for her family. As she left the room, Isabelle pulled her hair into a bun and made her way down the stairs. Her parents weren’t up and about just yet, but soon, they would be.
Isabelle started the breakfast and soon, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, mingling with the scent of buttermilk biscuits baking in the oven.
Her morning routine involved preparing a hearty breakfast for her family, a tradition she had taken on with pride. She hummed a familiar hymn, her melody filling the kitchen. Her fingers moved deftly, setting the table with care. The only other sounds were the clinking of plates and silverware.
As she placed a steaming plate of biscuits on the table, Isabelle heard the rumbling of her older brother’s pickup truck at the front door—right on time as usual.
With breakfast ready, Isabelle called out to her parents, and the familiar sounds of footsteps and laughter filled the ranch house.
“Good morning, Belle,” her mother said as she entered the kitchen.
“Morning, Mama,” Isabelle said.
Her father inhaled deeply, then exhaled a long, contented sigh. “I’m already ready for my thirds.”
Isabelle laughed as the door creaked open. “There’s plenty, Daddy.”
“Good morning, Clarks,” her brother said as he walked inside.
“Daniel, wipe your shoes, young man,” Isabelle’s mother scolded. “I just mopped in here yesterday.”
“This is ranch life, Mama,” Daniel said, “The floor get dirty after you’ve already mopped. So what’s the point?”
“The point is, when your mama tells you to do something, you do it,” came the response with narrowed eyes. “No matter how old you might be.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Daniel said, rubbing his boots against the rug outside. When he walked in, he hung his hat on the coat rack by the door. “Got enough for me?”
“Help yourself.” Isabelle waved her hand at the food. “We’ve got plenty to go around.”
Daniel slid into the seat across from his father. “Smells great, Izzy.”
Isabelle sat down next to her brother. “Thanks. Hope it takes all right.”
“I’m sure it will, honey,” her mother said. “Do you want to say the blessing?”
Isabelle did and started eating to appease her rumbling stomach.
“How’s Amy, dear?” Isabelle’s mother asked Daniel.
Stabbing his fork into his eggs, Daniel said, “Amy’s good. The twins are driving her crazy. Heck, the twins are driving me crazy.”
“I think they’re adorable,” Isabelle said, pushing her glasses on her nose.
“Maybe for you. You don’t have to be startled awake early in the morning by those two. Who needs roosters when you’ve got Sienna and Marisol?” Daniel chuckled. “I guess they keep me young.” He cleared his throat as he ate. Finally, after a few minutes of light conversation was made, Daniel let out a heavy sigh as if he’d come to a decision he had trouble making. “Daddy, I know you don’t like to discuss business at the table, but I need to talk to you about the ledger.”
The eldest member of the Clark household frowned, the worry lines deepening. “What’s wrong, son?”
Daniel hesitated, then said, “Well, Daddy, that’s something I want to discuss with you in detail.” He glanced from Isabelle to their mother. “In private.”
